British Phonographic Industry (BPI) CEO Geoff Taylor says that UK labels generated $242 million of revenues from non-sales sources last year – a figure that includes streaming, synchronisation licensing, merchandising and mobile content. Indeed, more than 11% of labels” income now comes from these sources, while revenues from ad-funded music services like We7 and Yahoo Music rose 56% in 2007. Meanwhile, more than 85% of sales of Top 20 singles in the UK are now digital.
