MTV is looking to forge closer links between its TV channels and its online music activities, with the launch of a new `Soundtrack’ website where viewers can check out songs that have featured in their favourite MTV shows. The site will have a searchable database by day, show and time, with 30-second clips of every song, and MySpace-style artist profile pages where songs can be streamed in full. Weirdly, the site is launching without any links to MTV’s Rhapsody America joint venture, but apparently that’ll come in time, allowing users to stream tracks or buy them from the Rhapsody MP3 Store.
