Microsoft and Yahoo might not have merged (yet), but the two companies clearly share a somewhat laissez-faire attitude towards their music customers. Yahoo has just announced that it’s shutting down its Yahoo Music Store at the end of September, and just as Microsoft did with MSN Music, it’s told users that after the shutdown, they won’t be able to transfer their previously purchased songs to unauthorised computers or re-license them after changing operating systems.
