
Google has announced the launch of its own web browser, called Chrome. It’s due to be made available for PC users to download today. “What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications,” says Google’s announcement. Quirkily, Google announced Chrome in a specially-created comic strip. The news opens up a new front in Google’s battle with Microsoft, whose Internet Explorer browser is already facing stiff competition from Firefox and Apple’s Safari.
