Apple and IBM have been tussling over Mark Papermaster, who left his job at the latter to become the former’s new SVP of devices and hardware engineering.IBM threatened to sue over a non-compete clause in his contract, and won a court order preventing him from starting work until the dispute was settled. Well, it’s been settled now – Papermaster will start work on April 24th, according to an Apple press release, although it doesn’t say how the dispute was resolved. He’ll report to CEO Steve Jobs, although given he’s out of action for the next few months, it remains to be seen just how many strategic changes Papermaster will be able to make – at least until Jobs’ own future is resolved.
