The number of people watching video on their mobile phones in the U.S. in Q4 2008 grew at a faster rate than those viewing it on the internet. There was a 9% increase in the number of users viewing mobile video to 11 million viewers. This was matched by the increase in viewers who accessed video on digital video recorders. Time-shifted television watching was also up 9%, to 74 million viewers. Teenagers between 13 and 17 spent on average 6.38 hours a month viewing mobile video, the most time of all age groups . The average time accessing mobile video across all age groups was 3.42 hours a month.
