Island Records has launched a nifty online marketing campaign around new artist V V Brown. It’s called Band In A Banner, and involves online banner ads where VV and her band are actually playing in, yes, a banner-shaped space.The ads have already been placed on music blog Pop Justice, and Island says they’re the first banners to ever feature full-length clips of an artist performing live.Performing in a confined space isn’t a new concept for a pop video – remember The Cure doing Close To Me? But using that as the creative concept for a banner ad is certainly a nifty idea. We’ll have to wait and see how much more effective the ads are than traditional banners to judge its success, though.Want to check it out? Click here
