Q4 2008 saw sales of smartphones in the US represent 23% of all handset sales, compared to 12% in Q4 of 2007. The average price for a smartphone fell 23%, from $216 in Q4 2007 to $167 in Q4 2008. Half of smartphones sold had touch screens and 70% had QWERTY keyboards—indicating around 20% had both. Connectivity also increased, with 66% of smartphones sold on 3G networks compared to 46%, a year earlier.
