Eminem’s former production company may have lost their recent case against UMG for a larger slice of digital royalties, but a similar lawsuit on behalf of the Allman Brothers Band against Sony Music has just been reinstated. The suit was first filed in 2006, but was later dismissed over a legal technicality. Now it’s back on again, with the band arguing that they deserve 50% of the net licensing/leasing fee revenues from digital sales. Their lawyer tells Hypebot that the lawsuit differs from the Eminem case due to different wording in the Allman Brothers Band’s contract – and it’s a class action suit, so other artists could join it in the future.
