As the recession continues to bite, so more tech firms are laying off staff. Music/entertainment blog network Buzz Media is letting 20% of its staff go, and is reining in its plans to add more sites to its 40-strong portfolio. The company owns music blogs like Stereogum and Idolator. Meanwhile, online TV firm Veoh has laid off 25 staff and shifting focus away from its website and onto its video search browser plug-in. The company is still embroiled in litigation with Universal Music Group. Finally, social network Hi5 has axed 50% of its staff and signed a deal with online games firm Mochi Media in an effort to drive more revenues from virtual items.
