
Live friend-streams are all the rage in the Web 2.0 world at the moment, from Twitter to Facebook to FriendFeed. Now YouTube is getting in on the action with a new feature called YouTube RealTime. It lets users see which of their friends are currently online, what videos they’re watching, and what comments they’re leaving. The feed is served up in a toolbar that remains on-screen wherever you are on the site. “It’s tough to ignore a popup notification that your friend just watched a video called `Cat rides skateboard’,” notes TechCrunch, but obviously music videos could benefit too.
