Another day, another major adds to the free download glut; Parlophone is offering the live Coldplay album LeftRightLeftRightLeft gratis through the band website. This follows the successful pr stunt last year, which saw the band post Viva La Vida’s lead single online for free, scoring a whopping 2m downloads within the first five days of its availability. LeftRightLeftRightLeft was recorded while the band have been on their Spring/Summer Viva La Vida tour, where they’ve been giving away the live album to fans at the shows. However, this latest move will lengthen the parent album’s lifespan and shows how Parlophone is embracing the free download trend for its online marketing strategy; last month it gave away a Viva La Vida remix by Jon Hopkins through the Coldplay website.
