Since Billboard hired former Coolfer blogger Glenn Peoples, he’s been producing a steady stream of top-notch analysis for the music industry site. The latest looks at album premieres on MySpace, revealing that the retention rate – how many users listen to most or all of the album – is lower than on rival sites Lala and Last.fm. There’s lots of figures in the piece to show this, which we won’t reproduce here – but the topline figure is that only 13% of MySpace listeners make it halfway through the album, while only 7% get to track 14 (or the end, if before).
