We’ve just got a customer email from Sony teasing its VidZone service, which goes live for PlayStation 3 this summer. It’ll be a free application downloaded to the games console, which then gives access to “thousands” of streaming music videos – presumably ad-funded. Users will be able to create playlists, and the service will also work on Sony’s PSP handheld console. It’ll thus go head-to-head with Microsoft’s newly announced plans to have Zune provide videos for its Xbox 360 console (see story further down this Bulletin).
