Facebook is launching a new payments platform, which will let users buy Facebook Credits from the social network, and then use them to pay for stuff within Facebook applications. The new system is being tested this week with selected apps, for example GroupCard. It remains to be seen what potential the new payments system has for music applications on Facebook, but it’s certainly been greeted with excitement by app developers, who hope it will be less of a barrier to people spending money within applications than existing payment methods like credit cards.
