Researchers from Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania have been looking at the sample digital music clips provided to consumers to persuade them to buy the full tunes, and they’ve reached some logical conclusions. Want more people who listen to the sample to buy the song? Make the sample higher quality and longer then. Or, as they put it, “digital music samples with a higher quality and longer segments were found to increase the sampler’s music evaluation and make the evaluation process more useful… The current practice of offering only short, low quality samples is not ideal.”
For more digital music sales, give better, longer samples
