Analyst Ovum is the latest to pump out numbers on future sales of smartphones, claiming that shipments will rise 18.7% this year, and that by 2014 they’ll account for 29% of the market. The demand from consumers for mobile applications is thought to be a big factor, as is the fact that manufacturers are starting to focus on low and high-end phones. By 2014, Ovum thinks Symbian will have 43% of the smartphone market, followed by Android’s 18%.
