Samsung has unveiled its latest mobile handset, the Jet, and is touting it as being “smarter than a smartphone”. This, despite the fact that it doesn’t use one of the established smartphone platforms like Android, Symbian or Windows Mobile. What it does have is a whizzy 800MHz processor inside, as well as a super-bright AMOLED screen, which it claims is four times sharper than its rivals, yet uses 40% less energy. “It’s a superior product to iPhone,” said Samsung UK and Ireland MD Derek Williamson at the launch last night. Has it got an app store? Er… no. But it will have “in the near future”.
