As we said yesterday, we suspected that Amazon UK’s 29p MP3 albums were a mistake rather than a super-aggressive loss-leader, but now the company has confirmed it. “We can confirm that there was a pricing error on a small number of MP3 albums,” says a statement. “This issue has been rectified. Despite our best efforts, with the millions of items available on our website, pricing errors can occur.” As Billboard points out, it will be interesting to see how the likes of Lily Allen, Metallica and Coldplay benefit in this weekend’s UK albums chart.
