Specifically, it quotes an exec from one of Twitter’s investors as saying that direct links to products and payment mechanisms could be a revenue stream for the micro-blogging service. “Commerce-based search businesses monetize extremely well, and if someone says ”What treadmill should I buy?” you as the treadmill company want to be there,” he says. It’s not a stretch to see how music could fit into this model (and it’s probably more suitable for 140-character recommendations than treadmills)
