
The success of Sweden’s Pirate Party in getting elected to the European Parliament is having an impact elsewhere in Europe, with new pirate parties forming in France and the Czech Republic. The latter has just been certified as an official political party, and intends to compete in elections this October. In France, it’s just a Facebook group plus Wordpress blog at the moment, but 1,600 people have already joined. Whether this translates into actual votes, of course, is another question entirely.
