MTV has hired games industry veterans Scott Guthrie and David Cox (from THQ and Sony respectively) to run its gaming division, with plans to diversify beyond its hit Rock Band franchise. It seems music will remain a big factor though. “There may be a handful of other moves we make that will involve people who are really breakthrough artists who might want to make video games for the first time,” says MTV Networks president Van Toffler. Meanwhile, MTV is lining up some serious promotion for its The Beatles: Rock Band game this Autumn, including a Beatles week on VH1 with heavy Rock Band branding.
