Well, you would, wouldn’t you. Minnesota woman Jammie Thomas-Rasset is appealing against the $1.92 million damages award following her recent conviction for copyright infringement. Her lawyers aren’t holding back with their language either – in their filing, they slam the damages award as “excessive, shocking and monstrous”. They’re asking that the award be thrown out completely, or reduced to the statutory minimum of $750 per song, which would leave Thomas-Rasset facing a more manageable bill of around $18,000.
