More than 6 million people in the U.K. watched the live prime-time broadcasts of Michael Jackson’s memorial service on domestic TV channels. The service was screened live on BBC Two, which attracted an average 4 million viewers and a 19% audience share. The audience peaked at 5.2 million towards the end of the July 7 service at the Staples Center in L.A. Channel Five’s coverage had an audience of 1.2 million and a 5% share between 6.30pm and 9pm in the U.K. Sky News had an average audience of 897,000 for its coverage.
