Microsoft saw its share of the U.S. search market rise 0.4% in June on buzz around its new Bing search engine. Microsoft attracted 8.4% of the search market last month, compared with 65% for Google and 19.6% for Yahoo, while Google remained steady, Yahoo’s share dropped from 20.1% in May. Despite Microsoft’s advertising and public relations campaign for Bing, the company still took a smaller share of the search market last month than it did a year ago (9.2%). Analyst firm Barclays Capital had expected Bing to attract 10-11% of U.S. search traffic in June.
