Tech firm VoloMedia has been awarded a patent for supposedly inventing podcasting, or specificially a “method for providing episodic media content”. Their application was filed back in November 2003, yet the well-documented dawn of podcasting was a couple of years before – and not VoloMedia. “We would expect new entrants into the podcasting arena to have a collaborative relationship with VoloMedia, just as do many of the current players,” says a statement from the company. Presumably collaboration = handing over fistfuls of cash.
