US rock band AFI have relaunched their website with a new feature that revolves around Twitter. Specifically, fans are being asked to tweet with the hashtag #medicate (the band’s new single).When a certain number of tweets is reached, new content is revealed on the site – although right now, that content appears to be just song titles from the band’s new album. It’s the latest example of someone using Twitter’s hashtag feature for marketing purposes.Is it working? Well, the hashtag isn’t yet in the Top 10 trending topics on Twitter, but there are plenty of fans taking part, as you can see from this search result. The band are signed to UMG subsidiary DGC/Interscope Records.
