According to Cydia, an online store of applications mostly banned from Apple’s iPhone App Store, that necessitates that users “jailbreak” their iPhones to run, claims that there is currently 4 million jailbroken iPhones. Cydia operator Jay Freeman said that 470,000 people with jailbroken iPhones were browsing the store on a recent day. The 15 paid applications available on Cydia have earned a combined $220,000 in five months.
