In what seems like an out-of-the-blue post on Twitter last Friday evening, Cory Ondrejka, EMI digital marketing exec VP, announced he is leaving after only five months in the role. “Thanks EMI for great year and a half, time to return to entrepreneurial roots, last day 21 Aug,” he wrote. Taking over from Douglas Merrill, who was axed in March due to restructuring, Ondrejka announced eight new hires and promotions in the department just two weeks ago, making this latest move seem really sudden. The co-founder of Second Life explained he was leaving to return to his spiritual home in Silicon Valley and spend more time with his kids. EMI has not named a replacement yet, and it’s unclear if its growing digital strategy will be curtailed.
