Australian “paid follower” service USocial.net has claimed that it was paid to collect 25,000 Twitter followers on behalf of Michael Jackson before the singer’s death. Meanwhile Sony Pictures and Sony Music Entertainment are set to release a Michael Jackson movie in the USA on 30 October, complete with 3D sequences shot shortly before the singer’s death. According to the LA Times, a judge has given Sony permission to make a film from footage taken from backstage and rehearsal clips taken during the runup to his cancelled “This Is It” season at the London O2 dome, for which Sony paid AEG $60 million. Rumours since July have suggested that a new version of Thriller was shot in 3D just weeks before Jackson passed away: with a release date now set for the Friday before Halloween it seems almost certain that Sony is planning to market a Thriller-centric campaign towards Halloween holiday revellers. Jackson has made one 3D movie before, the sci fi theme park show Captain Eo, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Speculation is rife on blogs that Captain EO is also set for a return this Halloween.
