India’s mobile phone companies added 14 million subscribers in July, up from 12 million additions in June, according to data from India’s telecom regulator. In January this year, India added 15 million mobile phone subscribers, the most ever. The country now has a total of 479.04 million telecom subscribers, of which, wireless subscribers number 441.66 million. India’s teledensity is now 41.08%. Broadband subscriptions grew 2.7% month-on-month to 6.80 million. Broadband is defined as connections with speeds of 256kbps or more.

Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telco by number of subscribers, added most number of subscribers in July. It added 2.8 million new users in July, taking its subscriber base to 105 million. Reliance Communications added 2.3 million subscribers, while Vodafone Essar added 2.2.
