Apple has responded to the Federal Communications Commission, which is investigating the alleged rejection of a Google Voice iPhone application. Semantics fans will enjoy Apple’s argument that it has not rejected the app – it just hasn’t approved it. There’s a nugget of info about Apple’s approvals department too – it has more than 40 full-time trained reviewers, each app gets looked at by at least two of them, and 8,500 new apps and updates are submitted every week – of which around 20% are not approved as originally submitted. All of this, of course, is relevant to Spotify’s iPhone app, which is still in the system.
