US retailer Target has struck a deal with Apple to create its own section on the iTunes Store, promoting new albums. The first to be featured is Backspacer, the new offering from Pearl Jam. Customers who pre-order it through Target’s page will get a free download of its first single, The Fixer. The album will then be “available for purchase in the United States exclusively through Target,, iTunes, Pearl Jam’s Ten Club Web site and independent retailers”. Stretching the term “exclusively”.
