Artists launching their own social networks is a bit 2008 – with its recent improvements, Facebook is arguably now a more suitable venue to tap into the social side of things. However, Stribe is a new startup that lets any site create its own social networking layer, in the form of a bar at the bottom of every page. It lets people sign up as members, chat with each other, and make comments on the content. “There are a lot of sites that don’t want to use someone else to become a social network,” says CEO Kamel Zeroual. It might be of interest to music sites, anyway.
