Excited talk about how many millions of songs bands are selling through Rock Band and Guitar Hero may be tempered by the knowledge that people are just as keen to download each other’s cover versions – when the ability to do so exists. The last Guitar Hero game, Guitar Hero World Tour, had a music studio mode for players to create their own tracks and upload them to Activision’s servers. The company has just revealed that 250,000 songs were uploaded, and they’ve since generated 17 million downloads.
