Palm made a big deal out of its Pre smartphone’s ability to sync with iTunes, before Apple blocked the feature in an update. Then Palm found a workaround, but Apple blocked it again. Now industry body the USB Implementers Forum has waded into the row, saying Palm has no right to bring the feature back. It’s all to do with the way the Pre pretends to be an iPod when connected to a computer’s USB port – a feature that apparently violates the group’s rules.
