Gigs in virtual worlds! They’re the future! Well, they were the future in 2006.So news that Dizzee Rascal is holding an album promo gig in Sony’s PlayStation Home virtual world might not be greeted with the open-mouthed awe that Second Life gigs used to be. The difference, of course, is that more than 30 people might show up to gigs in Sony’s PS3 virtual world. It”s all taking place in the SingStar Rooms VIP Space within the world, and was arranged by PIAS’ Sync & Brand division, working with PIAS UK’s Integral arm and Dizzee’s own Dirtee Stank label. Dizzee will chat to fans virtually after the gig, and there’ll be virtual items to take away – including a mask – as well as a Dizzee songpack for Sony’s SingStar game.
