
Another one for the “Cool Google technologies that will annoy publishers” file. Sidewiki is a new service debuted yesterday by Google – a sidebar for web browsers that lets users post and read comments about web pages. It uses an algorithm to rank comments by their “quality”, and links everything back to users” Google profile pages. Which is very slick, but could get on the wrong side of website owners who already have their own commenting systems, and would prefer visitors to use those.
