YouTube has announced plans for an online viewing party for the film Taxi Driver, with live Twitter updates appearing below the viewing window. It’s not the first example of this kind of blend of video and tweeting – Facebook and Ustream have done the same thing with band webcasts. But it shows YouTube’s ambitions in the longform content area, and it could very well roll out this functionality to streaming gigs in the future too.
