A new survey conducted by the Cyber Norms research project has found that 10% of 15-25 year-old Swedes are using internet anonymising services to hide their identities – which could equate to more than half a million people. File-sharing is one of the key reasons for using such services, particularly since the debut of the anti-piracy IPRED law earlier this year. Local Virtual Private Network (VPN) services have been doing well since the legislation – one, called Itshidden, has apparently signed up more than 100,000 people, and recently had to suspend new registrations.
