Google has just dropped USD $30m on an online phone company called Gizmo5. There’s a tenuous music link: the service is owned by MP3.com founder and one time VP of digital at Universal, Michael Robertson. He’s also known as something of a thorn in the side for labels, having launched MP3Tunes online storage locker a couple of years ago and slugging it out with EMI in the process.
