Universal announced last week that revenues had fallen 5.2% during the first three quarters of 2009 to EUR €2.98bn (GBP £2.66bn). Although there has been 21% growth in digital sales as well as higher income from publishing and merchandising, Universal blamed the dip on “falling demand for physical product and lower licence income in addition to a light release schedule.”
