US public radio service NPR is always a good source for thought-provoking entertainment and as part of it’s retrospective of the decade, it is challenging users to test their digital music knowledge. But the quiz doesn’t ask you to name Shawn Fanning’s favourite colour or what kind of cashmere Steve Jobs’s roll-neck jumpers are made of. Instead it names a bunch of digital music startups, some of which are genuine and some of which are fictional. It’s not as easy as you might think, mostly because even some of the real startup names and concepts are patently ridiculous.
