Collection societies increased their global royalty collections 1% to $10.91 billion in 2008, according to research from Music & Copyright. However, the publication predicts that the rise this year will be just 0.1% to $10.92 billion. It also claims that the share attributed to authors will reach 30% this year, up from 24.1% in 2006 thanks to the decline in recorded music sales.
