The latest BitTorrent tracker to shut down in Europe is SceneTorrents, a well-established site that’s apparently been going for more than four years. A terse message to users of the invite-only site said merely that it was closing, and “thanks for being with us”. TorrentFreak reports on speculation that the closure is related to a recent police raid on a site called LOOP, which was one of the main content providers for SceneTorrent. Either way, it’s clear that the crackdown on torrent sites in Europe is continuing, even if it’s less high-profile than various governments’ efforts to legislate on consumers’ filesharing activities.
