Pandora founder Tim Westergren is the latest industry exec to chip in for our Can Music Be Free? week on the blog. He says the company is still keen to get statutory central licences to offset its current punishing licensing rates. And on the advertising side: “The big challenge in the ad space is that to be attractive to advertisers you have to have scale and it’s difficult to go from zero to scale because your ad capability can’t keep up with your growth.
