You might not have heard of GetJar, but it was one of the first mobile app stores to launch – even before Apple’s. Its CEO Ilja Laurs has come out with some predictions for the next year in mobile, saying that while the app store craze will dramatically change the mobile entertainment industry, 90% of new app stores will fail. It’s a sign of the challenge facing anyone investing in music apps, trying to decide which platforms beyond iPhone are worth investing in. That said, Laurs thinks that apps targeting multiple platforms will be the ones that take off. “Those apps that operator on a variety of different platforms will be the ones that succeed.” Source: Mobile Entertainment
