Universal Music Netherlands has made an undisclosed investment in local digital music firm Target Media, which claims to account for 15% of music downloads there. It’s part of a wider fundraising round that has also seen Dutch media company Media & More Factory buy shares in Target Media, joining UMG as a minority shareholder. Is there a danger of preferential treatment for its new label investor though? “Everyone agreed we can’t and won’t treat Universal differently than any other label,” says president Paul van Rooij. “There is a mutual interest in developing a healthy digital market in the Netherlands.” Source: Billboard
