The Vevo music videos portal launches today, and as predicted, EMI has joined in time for the launch. The label is providing its own catalogue of videos, as well as those from indie labels represented by its EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution divisions. However, PaidContent claims EMI has not taken any equity in Vevo, unlike UMG and Sony. CEO Rio Caraeff tells Billboard that 20 brands have signed up to advertise on Vevo, and says talks are ongoing with WMG. “There’s no disagreement over the strategy, there’s no problems with the business model. The issues are generally more corporate in nature.” Source: PaidContent Source: Billboard
