Remember Seeqpod? The music search engine shut down earlier this year following lawsuits from EMI and WMG, and was touting its assets to potential buyers. It still hasn’t found one, but CEO Kasian Franks tells TechCrunch that he’s on the verge of selling the tech to an unnamed “large Japanese media company”. However, Franks and some of Seeqpod’s lead engineers have launched a new company, Mikojo, which aims to offer a legal music search engine linking to songs, lyrics, tickets and merchandise.
